ICANN | Top-Level Domains (gTLDs)

ICANN | Top-Level Domains (gTLDs): "Most TLDs with three or more characters are referred to as 'generic' TLDs, or 'gTLDs'. They can be subdivided into two types, 'sponsored' TLDs (sTLDs) and 'unsponsored TLDs (uTLDs), as described in more detail below.
In addition to gTLDs and ccTLDs, there is one special TLD, .arpa, which is used for technical infrastructure purposes. ICANN administers the .arpa TLD in cooperation with the Internet technical community under the guidance of the Internet Architecture Board"

Search Engine Optimization, Google Optimization - RSS Feeds: "ou may have heard and read that writing for the web is very different from writing for print publications. That's especially true if you're trying to promote your website. Keep it short, use bullet points, summarize, make sure it grabs your readers' attention; that's just some of the advice given to web writers. Have you ever wondered why?

Google Unveils Instant Pages, More: "Yesterday, Google held a media event in San Francisco. In addition to discussing our continuous quest for knowledge, the company unveiled a number of new features, such as Google Instant Pages, and expanded the availability of others from mobile devices to the desktop.
The company noted that, if you examine the peak periods of the day for mobile and desktop search, they're almost mirror images of each other. We search at our desktops throughout the work day, with a dip at lunchtime. On mobile devices, on the other hand, relatively little search happens throughout the work day, but there's a rise around lunchtime, and another one after normal working hours."

VMware CloudFoundry: Ruby powered PaaS - igvita.com

VMware CloudFoundry: Ruby powered PaaS - igvita.com: "To orchestrate all of these moving components, the 'brains' of the platform is a Rails 3 application (CloudController) whose role is to store the information about all users, provisioned apps, services, and maintain the state of each component. When you run your CLI (command line client) on a local machine, you are, in fact, talking to the CloudController. Interestingly, the Rails app itself is designed to run on top of the Thin web-server, and is using Ruby 1.9 fibers and async DB drivers - in other words, async Rails 3!"

Cloud legislation takes center stage on Capitol Hill — Cloud Computing News

Cloud legislation takes center stage on Capitol Hill — Cloud Computing News: "Ultimately, all attempts to push federal legislation and policy around cloud computing — the CCA is just one example (see, for example, the Digital Due Process coalition) — are about bringing decades-old code and viewpoints into the 21st century. As Reed explained, cloud services have expanded in scale and scope so fast that governments haven’t really had the time or expertise to keep up. At Structure 2011 next week, I’ll be leading a panel discussion with two esteemed legal professionals to discuss all of these efforts and their potential effects in greater detail."

Cloud legislation takes center stage on Capitol Hill — Cloud Computing News: "Cloud Computing Act of 2011. I spoke this morning with panelist Dan Reed, corporate VP of technology policy and strategy and leader of the eXtreme Computing Group at Microsoft, about his thoughts on the draft legislation, based on what he has seen of it.

Reed said the legislation aims to address two important issues: appropriate criminal penalties for cyberhacking of cloud services and providing legal clarity around transnational data storage and computing. Regarding criminal penalties, Reed thinks a big problem right now is that existing laws don’t adequately address the differences between hacking into a single computer versus launching a full-scale botnet attack"
